Stood Where You Stood by Rob Murray

A painting with famous reference, artist Rob Murray creates his own mixed media take on The Hay Wain.

Rich blue and green hues add a depth to this wonderful scene.

A response to Constable’s Hay Wain; after visiting Flatford exactly 200 years after Constable painted it, Rob has ‘updated’ the composition to show how the location has changed and evolved over those two centuries. The artist says: “Incorporating an element of collage, whereby a print of the original Hay Wain is laid onto the panel and painted over; some elements of the original show through and interact with my own marks, creating a dialogue between the two depictions.”
