Sara Edison

Sara Edison is a fine artist, based in South London. She studied a Diploma in Portraiture and Post Diploma in Figurative Painting, at Heatherleys School of Art in Chelsea. Whilst studying she was awarded a scholarship from The Painters and Stainers Guild, and The Mr Heatherleys Composition Award. In 2025 she was awarded The Cass Art Society of Women Artists Award, and was highlighted as a New Artist by the Affordable Art Fair.

Sara paints mainly in oil paint, drawing inspiration from artists Degas and Lautrec, masters of capturing a moment in time.
Their work explored the connection between beauty and human frailty a recurring theme in art history. Using fashion imagery as her subject aligns with this way of thinking, highlighting fashion as a fleeting yet passionate pursuit of beauty and pleasure.

Sara’s figures emerge from abstract marks, giving the feeling of a moment caught in time, like glimpsing a beautiful face in a crowd. Their direct gaze conveys confidence and sensuality.

She carefully chooses the shapes and forms of her models, drawing on the dynamic compositions found in the works of Schiele and Klimt.

In her paintings, Sara hopes to create a moment caught in passing, one of sensual, fashionable decadence. As your eyes lock with these women, their clothes and collars dance into an energetic abstraction.
