Penny Frith
Penny Frith is a Cambridge based Contemporary artist. She completed an art foundation course at CCAT in Cambridge before graduating with a degree in graphic design. She also worked in film animation, where her film “Surface” won first prize at the Nimes film festival, before returning to her love for painting.
Penny draws inspiration from her travels to the scenic coastlines of the UK. It is the sensation of the sky that she’s interested in, working in oils she strives to convey a sense of tranquility along with a luminous light filled quality through the use of colour and proportion. The vista and skies in Penny’s work all start from somewhere she’s been, but the abstract nature captures something emotional rather than figurative, evoking somewhere known and loved.
Today, she paints full time from her home studio and exhibits through select galleries. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy and is held in private collections around the UK and abroad.
