James Nunn

James Nunn is a British artist, born in Bradford, Yorkshire, in 1973. His work sells all over the world and he regularly exhibits in London and in his home city of Bath. He is a self-taught artist. He worked for many years as a book designer and illustrator and for the last twelve years he has combined this with his own practice as a fine artist. The two disciplines inform and nourish each other. His art helps his illustration avoid cliché and conformity, while his illustration lends themes and forms to his fine art: often the mistakes, rejections and experiments in book illustrations will form the basis for new stand-alone work. Drawing is at the core of his practice, and while most of his work belies a fascination with the natural world, it is the simple act of mark making that is his chief preoccupation.
