    David Scott Moore

David Scott Moore was born in London Hammersmith but grew up next to a forest in Sussex. This setting along with regular family trips to Scotland spurred on a growing fascination with landscapes.

He exhibits contemporary landscapes across the UK with international collectors spanning New York, Spain, Portugal, Australia, China and France.

After graduating from MMU, he spent time as a lecturer and then as an arts industry sculptor working on the large works of Anish Kapoor and Anselm Kiefer, before becoming a full-time contemporary landscape painter.  He paints in the studio and on location ‘en plein air’ across England, the South Downs, France and Italy.

David has been selected by a Somerset House Art Critic for the 2015 ING Discerning Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries. Exhibitng again at the Discerning Eye 2017, as an invited artist.  In 2016, he was selected for the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize. He was pre-selected for the Royal Society of British Artists Open Exhibition in 2016.  In 2019 & 2020, his work made final selection at the NEAC Open Exhibition.

In 2016, he won Paint Out/ Sussex Life Magazine’s Landscape Painter of the Year.

“Painting on location outside en plein air affords a dynamic sense of light, space and atmosphere to even a small painting.  I revisit locations in all seasons layering successive surfaces over a number of days, recording changes in real time.  Later in the studio, new processes of creation and destruction on surfaces are made partially formed by the memory of the live visits and partially from the studio-based discoveries”
