Camilla Jane Gittins
Camilla is a Welsh fine artist based in Shropshire, where she lives with her husband and two young children. She has a degree in Embroidery (fine art) and has over eight years’ experience working in interior store design. Camilla has been a full-time artist for nearly eight years and is known for her semi-abstract landscape paintings, which are heavily inspired by nature and the ever-changing landscapes around her. She is fascinated by the visible layers connecting land, sea and sky.
She has a deep-rooted connection to the Welsh coast and often takes painting excursions along its beautiful, rugged coastline, with her family in tow. Many of her pieces begin on the beaches themselves.
Her most recent body of work specifically explores the relationship between sea and sky, two vast planes that stretch endlessly, distinct in texture yet joined by the horizon. In her work, this meeting line remains a constant, anchoring the composition while everything around it is in flux.
Camilla’s work is characterised by her love of layering. Working mainly with acrylic paint, she explores the relationship between dense and transparent layers.
